Used Telemark Gear — Curated, Not Random
Every piece of used Telemark gear I sell has been personally inspected and selected with intention.
Nothing here is random, unvetted, or dumped into a pile.
If it’s listed on Freeheel Life, it’s gear I believe in — gear that still skis well and deserves more days on snow.
Why Buy Used?
Telemark gear is built to last.
- Well-designed skis, bindings, and boots don’t suddenly stop working because they’re a few seasons old
- Older designs often ski just as well as new ones
- Buying used lowers the cost barrier to Telemark skiing
- Performance doesn’t disappear with age — especially in freeheel gear
For many skiers, used gear is the smartest way to get on snow without compromise.
How I Curate Used Gear
I don’t sell everything that comes across my path.
Before used gear is listed, I look at:
- overall condition and structural integrity
- how the gear actually skis or functions
- whether it still makes sense for modern Telemark setups
- Is a vintage setup that I find interesting and worth continuing to circulate in the marketplace
I won’t sell gear that:
- has hidden damage
- doesn’t function properly
- I wouldn’t ski myself
- Condition is described honestly — including cosmetic wear — so you know exactly what you’re getting before you buy.
No mystery gear. No surprises.
All used gear on Freeheel Life is selected and reviewed by me, Josh Madsen — a lifelong Telemark skier and former publisher of Telemark Skier Magazine.

Who This Is For
Used Telemark gear is a great option if you’re:
- returning to Telemark skiing after time away
- building or rebuilding a setup on a budget
- experimenting with different skis or bindings
- someone who values experience over trends
If you want trustworthy gear without paying for brand-new shine, you’re in the right place.
What to Expect
Here’s what I aim to be clear about on every listing:
- cosmetic wear versus functional condition
- binding compatibility and limitations
- realistic expectations around boot and binding norms
- exactly what’s included — and what isn’t
If something matters, it’s listed.
