Telemark Skier Magazine Archive

Preserving the editorial history of modern Telemark skiing.

Telemark Skier Magazine was created in 2003 to document, celebrate, and advance Telemark skiing during a formative period of its modern evolution. At a time when the sport received little mainstream attention, the magazine served as a dedicated space for long-form storytelling, athlete profiles, gear coverage, photography, and cultural commentary — all focused entirely on the freeheel turn.

After its initial run, the magazine experienced a second life under a new publisher beginning in 2008. In 2012, I acquired Telemark Skier Magazine and carried it forward as a digital, online publication, publishing new and archival content on and off through 2022. Across its various eras, the magazine maintained a consistent editorial focus: documenting Telemark skiing as a living culture rather than a trend.

This archive preserves that work across all of its phases.

What Telemark Skier Magazine Was

Telemark Skier Magazine served as a global voice for the Telemark community during a time when the sport existed largely outside the mainstream. It documented:

  • the people shaping Telemark skiing
  • the equipment that defined each era
  • the places, events, and subcultures that sustained the sport
  • the ideas that helped Telemark endure

The magazine was never about trends.
It was about recording a living culture.
