Colorado Update

Colorado is officially open for business...

Loveland celebrated its opening day (and the first in North America) on October 14. Hundreds of people showed up for the first day and a fair number participated in the casual rail jam that the resort set up. News crews swamped the parking lot early in the morning and the crowds flooded the one run until closing.

Although stating for months that it would open on the 21st of October, A-Basin failed to have enough snow to do so. The storm that had allowed Loveland to open had shut power at the Basin and thus snow making was closed for some time. They hope to open the 28th.

Other Colorado resorts are still looking to open. Copper is anticipating November 4th and Breckenridge and Keystone are looking for the 11th. Vail, Crested Butte, and Eldora expect to open November 19th and the Aspen resorts look towards the 25th and after. Again, all of these dates are tentative.

K2 Madness

K2 Signs Freeride Ripper Cody Smith of Carbondale, CO to the K2 Telemark Team.

Cody will definitely bring a lot to the K2 Team. Smith said, “K2 is an awesome company to work with because they are so excited to promote the new freeheel image, and they have the resources to make it happen. I think that they have an awesome product as well, and I'm excited to get myself into the framework at K2.” Smith will join Freeheel O.G. Ben Dolenc, who has been pushing the limits of the sport for quite sometime now.
