Over the past 8 years of being involved with Telemark ski retail through Freeheel Life, I have learned a tremendous amount about Telemark skiers. I’ve learned more about their needs, wants, and ultimately what helps them have the most fun on the mountain. Great gear is at the heart of what we do, but the correct gear for the skier is ultimately what makes or breaks it. The nature of the Telemark turn and how much the boot/binding combination affects the feeling we have on the mountain causes many people to struggle moving from their older setups into newer setups because they don’t possess the same qualities of sensation and performance. Over the years I’ve learned to accept and actually appreciate people’s love for “their” turn and much of what they call “their” turn is determined by the equipment they are familiar with.
Many Telemark skiers began dropping knees during the first 15 years of the 2000’s. Arguably the binding sold the most during this time was the G3 Targa and as a result, many developed their turns based on the sensation of this binding. As we have made the push to move towards NTN since 2008, none of the manufacturers, in my opinion, have ever really focused on creating a binding that can achieve the neutral binding feel for this group of people; I know this will happen eventually and hopefully not too far in the future. In the meantime, I’ve decided to reach out to this part of the Telemark community and offer some help to fill in this product gap — RESCUE CABLES by Bluebird Day Gear.
We will manufacture an aftermarket cable to the original specs of the G3 Targa cables.

THIS IS A PRE-ORDER TO ASSESS THE VIABILITY OF THIS PROJECT PRIOR TO MANUFACTURING.
Details:
The pre-order will run for approximately 5 days. If we reach our units ordered objective, we will proceed with manufacturing. If we DO NOT reach the necessary objective, in the allotted time, ALL ORDERS WILL BE REFUNDED.
Timeline:
Orders should be expected within 90 days. This will allow us time to produce all units and ship them to customers.
THE PRE-ORDER WILL BE FOR A 5-DAY PERIOD OF TIME
- These cables are manufactured to the exact specification of previous G3 Targa cables as an aftermarket product.
- ALL Cables will be BLACK in color.
- Cables will be sold in packs of 4 — NO SINGLES.
- This is a direct-to-consumer product and will not be offered to retailers at this time.
- We are currently only offering Standard size cables (Men’s US 4.5-14 / EU 37.0 - 49.0).
- If you are in need of XL or Small please send an email to customerservice@freeheellife.com during the pre-order. If there is enough demand we will consider manufacturing these.
