Ski Information:

For hard-core backcountry adventurers planning long tours and tough ascents, the WayBack is the lightest construction in the Backside series. With a modest 88-mm width, it weighs in at just 1,500 grams (174 cm length). K2 lightens the core by mixing in both super-light paulownia wood and bamboo. All K2 Backside models are lightweight cap constructions on wood cores, with carbon and fiberglass reinforcement. K2’s All-Terrain Rocker combines 70 percent camber with 30 percent tip/shovel rocker to smooth the ride, enhance forgiveness and improve soft-snow flotation. Snowphobic topsheets are chemically treated to shed snow that would otherwise add weight on ascents. All Backside skis have removeable tip and tail grommets for easy attachment of K2 Z-Clip climbing skins. In addition to skins, K2 offers a full line of backcountry equipment: probes, shovels, ski-carry packs, adjustable poles and even a shovel/ice-axe combo tool. Skin choices include economical nylon or easier-gliding mohair/nylon blend, and are available either trim-to-fit (cutting tool included) or precut to fit some K2 models.

    Binding Information:

Leaving the traditional 75mm duckbill behind, the progressive New Telemark Norm – NTN – is easier, smoother, and stronger. The binding’s construction and performance are unlike anything you’ve ever skied. NTN Freeride gives the skier unparalleled edge control and offers the simplicity and security of an alpine binding without sacrificing the freedom of the heels. Depending on the skier’s weight, boot size and ability, he/she can choose from different Power Tubes (springs): Green (Soft) or Blue (Medium). Standard 115 mm ski brakes are included (125 mm is available separately).

NTN users experience immediate energy transfer from boot to edge. Plus, new spring technology provides an even, smooth and adjustable forward flex. The NTN binding has a sideways release system and the springs can be pre-tightened or reduced in tightness. NTN bindings are also symmetrical; no left or right ski.

Easy in - easy out means you never have to bend over to put on your telemark binding again. With the grip of a ski pole, flick the lever open, step in, and push the lever back down.
