The Early November

The Mother, The Mechanic, and The Path

Heart felt lyrics lay over various musical deliveries during this 3 disc concept album. The upside is that there is plenty of room to develop individual ‘moods’ with each record. I sat down to listen to the three albums start to finish and it was most definitely the key to gathering the impact as a whole. Ace Enders and crew do a great job of creating a new atmosphere with each record. The Mechanic brings on a more rocking approach and feel, while The Mother abounds with more of an acoustic presentation of feelings. ‘My lack of skill’ is by far one of my favorites, as it brings a killer piano tune into the mix. Then comes The Path. Part spoken word and part song. It is most definitely a deep look into experience and you are forced into various moods throughout the disc. It reminded me of a musical in its mixture of artistic expression. Delve into this fine piece of hard work from a young band, but remember to set aside a good chunk of time, a quiet room, and take a listen all the way through…it’s worth it.

Elkano Browning Cream

Elkano Browning Cream

Jazzy based Elkano Browning Cream does not only have one of the best names ever, they possess a blend of Latin, jazz, and African drum beats that roll up nicely for a laid back day at home. The record is mostly instrumental; however there are some sparse vocals on a few tracks to add some flavor. If you are looking for something to get you in a better mood and add some spice to the mundane…pick this one up. Another fascinating fact is that this album was recorded in a mobile studio, original.
