The dust has settled after an exciting final in Alyeska, AK today with some new bragging rights in hand for a few Freeheelers who have been pushing hard for years. After duking it out for the judges Nick Devore from Carbondale, CO took the 1st place spot beating out 5 time National Telemark Big Mtn Champion, Dylan Crossman....

Day 1 went off at the first ever World Telemark Extreme Championships in Aleyeska Alaska, where many of the top names in Freeheel Skiing arrived on the scene to strut their stuff and set the bar for what hopefully will become an annual event where Telemark skiers can test their skills against one another...

The second and final day of competition at Crested Butte went of as smooth as could be expected with stellar runs and a great group of spectators on hand to witness some of the most intense telemark skiing to date. The finals venue was located in the staircase area with the well known areas of Body Bag, Dead End Chutes, and Slot Rocks ....

The snow.  Well, we actually have some this year.  It’s amazing what a difference a few hundred inches makes.  Lines that looked like cheese-graters last year are plenty filled-in and ski-able this year.  Landings on cliff drops are soft and fluffy and the faceshots have been more than plentiful...

I would like to say that this trip was all about the super gnarly skiing we did under the careful guiding of Martin Sochor and Lothar Hofer of Ydream Productions, but I am finding that what sticks out in my mind the most is the kindness and hospitality of relative strangers and their families....
